How do i winterize geraniums?

how do I keep 10 plants alive over the winter so they can bloom again in spring?

How do i winterize geraniums?
Before the plants have been touched by frost plant them in a long flower box.Remove a third of the upper growth. In winter keep the plants barely moist in a frost-free location with some light. In zone 7-8 you can keep them in an unheated garage which is attached to the house. Plant out in spring when danger of frost has passed.
Reply:I have kept all mine alive for years. I dig them up, pot them up and keep them under a grow light. I give them 8 hrs. of the grow light a day, only watering when dry. Don't shock them come spring....set them near a window for a few days before bringing them outdoors. And don't bring them out until all signs of frost are gone. Good luck!
Reply:Saving some geraniums can be done succcessfully. I have used a few methods and have been able to save a few but not all.

If potted, bring them into the house, place near a window or use an artificial light, preferable a growing bulb. Keep the light on continuisly, water when dry and hopefully in the Spring you can take htem outside and they will bloom again.

I have also dug them up, removed all the dirt from the roots, placed the plants in brown kraft bags in a cool room (basement) and then planted in the spring and had some grown again.

i probably save about 40% of the plants, howevef some friends are able to save them ALL doing what i have said.
