I just planted Ivy Geraniums, Trailng Fusia and Trailing Petunias in window boxes..how long will they take to?

grow over the side and trail?

I'm on a first floor flat and can't wait as they're gonna look so pretty. I used water retaining compost and mixed in fish, blood and bone to it and I watered them in with Miracle Grow. They get the sun all day from about 10.30.

How long do you think it will be until they start to spill over and how long until they get lots of flowers?

I planted the same mixture about 4 weeks ago and the petunias are in full flower, the geraniums have nearly open buds and the fuschias have small buds. I was lucky I got the help of the hot spell recently, I think they may take a little longer with the miserable weather we're having in the south of England this week.
Reply:That sound very pretty. Within a few weeks I'd guess you'd have flowers.

Windowboxes may overheat at first until the plants grow over the box and make shade. If yours are getting too warm, a cheap and easy fix is to clothespin a piece of newspaper over them and the box, or just the box, in the afternoons. Your fuschia is the most sensitive to temperature of the three.
Reply:if you bought them as mature/near mature specimens, pinch out the top growing tips,as this will encourage them to bush-out sideways - especially good for trailing plants.....
